Britain's best-loved outlaw gets the Hammer treatment in Sword of Sherwood Forest, which sees Richard Greene (The Blood of Fu Manchu, The Castle of Fu Manchu) reprise the role he made famous in the classic television series The Adventures of Robin Hood. When the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham (Peter Cushing, Corruption) wants to eliminate the Archbishop of Canterbury (Jack Gwillim, The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb) in order to seize the land of fallen nobles, his aides enlist the outlaw Robin Hood. Instead, Robin teams up with Maid Marion (Sarah Branch, Hell Is a City) to foil the plotters. Directed by the great Terence Fisher (The Gorgon, The Revenge of Frankenstein), the film also boasts an uncredited early role for Oliver Reed (The Damned).
